As James writes his epistle he is direct and to the point in everything he says, here he begins with know this, understand this, this point I am making is important for you to hear, know and understand. Then he refers to his readers as his beloved brothers, fellow followers of Christ Jesus, of which we should all be walking together toward the same outcome in the end, eternal life in Heaven with the Lord. His advice here is without question some of the best advice you will get because we can use this everyday of life to live in moderation. Let every person be quick to hear, in other words listen when people are talking to you, be attentive, use your two ears to listen before you open your one mouth. And that is the next piece of advice, be slow to speak , keep your words to yourself until you have heard all the person has to say, hear them out, then be careful and tactful in your response, think before you speak. And finally be slow to anger, oftentimes we think we heard something very different than what was actually said. What James is saying is simple, learn how to communicate better, we all fail at these things at one time or another, we all have a tendency to speak before we think, to react before knowing the reality of what was stated. Communication is the number one problem in our world, in the workplace, in government, in world affairs, in marriages, in relationships, you name it, communication is by far number one. So today, let us all strive to be better communicators, quick to hear, slow to speak, and very slow to get angry, Jesus Saves!
